Log onto the network

By dave.raj ·
Hi, I really need some help. I need to connect a laptop to the network. Now the laptop has Win 2k proffesional on it. I have been using Win 98 and it is quite easy to connect to the network. In Win 98, I set the I.P address and default gateway and in client for Microsoft network, I will add the domain and then the machine is ready to log onto the network. But I am getting confused with Win 2k, can someone pls help with the precise steps.
Thanks
Dave

Log onto the network

This is how to do it.

On the PDC, add the new Workstation name through the Server Manager.

Next, in the WIN2K Workstation, Right-click on the My Computer and select Properties. System Properties windows will pop-up with several tabs. Select the "Network Identification" tab and click the "Network ID" button. Network Indentification Wizard will appear and guide you through. Choose "Next" to proceed. You would want to choose the first option where it say "This Computer is part of a business network..." Select "Next" and you will have to select if your network is with Domain or without. Go on with the rest of the options and if everything goes well, you should be roaming the network in no time.

Good luck
