logging onto active directory domain

Hi, I can’t remember when u turn on a computer that’s on an active directory network it usually comes up with a log in for your user id and the second tab will have the domain that you are going to log into am I correct? Isn’t there usually another option or a drop-down box to choose something else? It’s been a while since I’ve been by a pc that was part of an active directory domain.
