Looking for a collaboration tools with a particular feature

    by ray.kurn8 ·

    Hello.

I am wondering if there are any recommended collaborative modelling tools out there (like Figma or Miro), which can check a certain objects through all the files in the groups’ repository.

For example, my team has 3 files, let’s say File 1,2, and 3. The objects in each files are as follows:
    File 1 = A, A, B, B, C.
    File 2 = A, B, C, D.
    File 3 = B, C, C, D.

If we check/search for object A, the desired result is highlighting/informing me the location of all A(s), or where all A(s) are used, or anything similar in nature. In this case, the desired result should refers to 2 A(s) in File 1, and one A in File 2.

The tools that I have tried so far can only check/search within each files. Like, if we check/search for object A(s) in File 1, it only shows the 2 A(s) in File 1.

    Thanks before.

Would any company or programmer be able to give you a solution with your supplied (above) specifications?

Now go back and document how you do this manually, write out the steps in the usual SRS (software requirement specification) so all can understand what needs to be done as well as the platform said app needs to run on.

or your specific need of collaborative modeling tools that allow for searching across multiple files in a repository and highlighting all instances of a certain object, there might not be a perfect solution, as most collaborative tools focus on real-time collaboration within individual files. However, there are a few options you can explore:

Lucidchart: Lucidchart is a popular collaborative diagramming tool that supports real-time collaboration and allows you to create diagrams across multiple files. While it may not have the exact feature you’re looking for, it does offer advanced search capabilities that could help you find instances of specific objects across multiple diagrams.

Draw.io (now part of diagrams.net): Draw.io, now known as diagrams.net, is another powerful diagramming tool that supports collaboration and integration with cloud storage services like Google Drive and OneDrive. While it may not have built-in functionality for searching across multiple files, you could potentially use external search tools within your cloud storage service to search for specific objects across diagrams.

GitMind: GitMind is a newer collaborative mind mapping tool that allows for real-time collaboration and supports integration with GitHub repositories. While it may not have advanced search capabilities built-in, its integration with GitHub could potentially allow you to leverage GitHub’s search functionality to find specific objects across multiple files in a repository.

Custom Solutions: Depending on your technical skills and requirements, you could potentially develop custom solutions using APIs provided by collaborative tools or by integrating them with version control systems like Git. This would require some development effort but could provide a more tailored solution to your specific needs.
