Last year I started studying for my Microsoft Certified Database Administrator cert and added on the System Administrator cert since I was already taking a couple of extra tests anyway. My current position involves tech support on a local level, but it is mostly making sure to administer an old Novell 4.11 server, rebuild Windows 9x installs, and answer questions on software issues before recommending people to call our official tech support center out of state. Needless to say, I am not in aposition at the office to actual administer Oracle or SQL.
I’ve set up a mini-network at home with an eval copy of Windows Server 2000 and SQL Server 2000 and am now looking to find something in Oracle that can help facilitate my learning curve.Does Oracle have eval copies that people can use for training? Does anyone know of any training courses (inexpensive) that people like me can take, especially since my one experience with Oracle was almost 7 years ago as an end user only?
I loveworking with Access and computers and would like the opportunity to become an entry level database administrator in the near future, but without some way to practice and hone my skills, it seems unlikely. If anyone has suggestions to offer, I wouldgreatly appreciate them.
Thanks muchly!
