Looking for “workflow software” suggestions

Howdy, all. I’m an IT consultant, with a small/mid-sized engineering/manufacturing company as a new client. They already have a home grown Access/SQL application to take care of their business process. They’re interested in adding workflow software to their stable. This would be something that would make sure that a PO has been approved by person XYZ before person ABC can forward it…
