No red??

If the red appears on the start up screen but not on normal display, the cable may be faulty. Try another monitor or try the questionable one on another unit.

NO SUCH THING

by luiss In reply to software to chek monitor ...

TEKCO,

NO SUCH THING AS A SOFTWARE TO CHECK MONITOR CABLES. NOWADAYS THOSE CABLES HAVE BECOME LESS EXPENSIVE.

DROP ME AN EMAIL, TELL ME IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN THEM. I MAKE THEM HERE IN NEW JERSEY.

OSD

by Choppit In reply to loss Red Colour on monito ...

The presence of red on the OSD suggests that the fault lies on the input to the monitor, most likely the cable, but my best guess would be bent/broken/shorted pins on the VGA connector. Assuming the pin(s) are not broken the best way to fix this is to carefully straighten them with a pair pliers.

Multimeter

yes i think that is the problem, i will check a cable with a multimeter, and i have a schema of pinout at his site www.monitorworld.com

Visual Check

A quick visual check should be sufficient to determine if this is the case. Count the pins and check that they all stand straight.

visual check

I agree, visual check should be enough. There is no way you can crack any of the conductors unless you actually cut the wires.
