Lost data in iPassSafe mobile app

I have used a mobile App called iPassSafe to store UID’s and passcodes for several years. It’s loaded on an iPhone and is the free version of the App. It has the Face ID feature which I use. Last week I opened the App and a pop-up box appeared requesting me to enter a new passcode in case the Face ID feature was inoperable. I created a new passcode and the App opened. However, all my previous stored entries were gone (over 200 items). I did not have the cloud back up setting set to “on” or any other means of backup. In fact, if I try to access the App now it asks me to enter a new passcode again. Any ideas or thoughts on how to get back all my information? Or why this happened? I sent an email to the developer but no response. TIA

….only the developer can help you solve/diagnose the issue. The day is young, give it some time for them to respond to you.

A sad example of what can happen if you don’t have a backup of data you don’t want to lose. Some people, alas, learn it too late.

What is your contingency plan for your other precious data if you happen to lose the iPhone or drop it in the loo? Such things DO happen.

I paid for my iPassSafe App but the exact same thing happend for me today.. Did you have any luck getting back your codes?

No luck. I have two messages into the developer to get some answers but no reply yet. I will keep trying as the squeaky wheel gets the oil, I hope.

I had just the same. problems on my iPad. Restoring data didn’t work, either. Support of iPasssafe didn’t answer. Did you get any solutions yet? Is it a problem of iPadOS?

Almost two weeks ago it happened the same to me. I used the paid version, for years. Suddenly when I opened it, asked me for a password (instead of the Face ID) and automagically opened a new database. I lost also really a lot of information, around 100 entries (and I am moving now between countries) really a pain in the a$$. I am 99% it was not my (user) fault. It did not even allow to restore from my iCloud file which somehow asked to overwrite

I had the same issue which sucessfully fixed. I signed with my Apple ID on different Iphone with IOS before the last update, restored all applications incl iPassSafe, then made a back up in iPassSafe which I sent to my original Iphone and uploaded the lost data into iPassSafe. It works again.

You refer to “the last update”; is that the last update to the IOS operating system or the last iPassSafe update?

Hello, I got the paid app in my iPhone with over 150 entries, and suddenly one day they disaappeared completely. I never wanted to use the cloud for backup, but I have no clue what happened.

Same thing JUST happened to me. I don’t see any real resolutions in this thread? are people referring to an IoS upgrade or an iPassSafe upgrade?

But folk continue to use apps and computers without backup of their data/information.

As to your question, it appears ipasssafe data appears to be at risk when there is an iOS upgrade performed.

i did a restore on my phone and it worked and recovered my iPassSafe data, Set up backups for the app. 🙂

Ok guys i had the same problem today and there we are step by step how i fix it.(only if you had back up on i cloud or somewhere else)
1. Log in to you iPassSafe in any another devise with old IOS, go to your i cloud management on iPassSafe app and Download your file from iCloud File Properties . Then Activated as well. (if saved in i Cloud)
2. Press Sync button and on a top right corner press arrow and now save your file to DROPBOX .
3. go to your device that you have a problem with and delete iPassSafe and reinstall again, set up password and log out
4. Then go do your dropbox app, find your saved iPassSafe file and click to open. Choose your iPassSafe app to open this file.
iPassSafe will ask you to activate this file, you must activate with password you used when you open iPassSafe in your old device. All immediately appear on your new app

About two months ago the same thing happened to me. I used the paid version, for years also. When I opened the app, I was asked to insert a new password (instead of the usual Face ID) and it automatically opened a new empty database. I lost a ton of information. Thinking that I did something wrong, I purchased another paid version and painstakingly entered bits and pieces of info that I could remember. The same thing happened again to me today. All my resaved info in my new paid version is gone again. I had written to the developer on two occasions when this first happened and there are zero responses from the developer. I cannot believe the developers indolence and silence. I smell a rat i.r.o. my two unfortunate occurrences. I will be speaking to my Lawyers about this developer but can someone kindly offer assistance on how I could possibly recover my information. Please be careful people this may also happen to you a second time also.

I was requested to enter a new password and then when the app opened I was unable to have any of my old store data in the app. It was completely blank
