Macros in Word 97

Can anyone share with me how to disable/delete/kill a Macro in Word?
Problem: Whenever I type the number 1 and hit enter it turns into a number 2.
Attempted Solution: I clicked Tools and the Macro option was grayed in.
Cry for help: What to do?!*#@
