Hi everybody,
Our Macs see incorrect files sizes on our Windows 2000 servers (W2K AD domain). PCs do see the correct file sizes. The partitions on the server are large (>40 GB).
For example…
When opening a network share on a Mac through chooser, all files (which happen to be small Web pages <15KB) show as 751k. When looking at a particular file's 'Get Info', it shows
"Size: 751k on disk (567 bytes)".
When looking at the file properties for the same file through Windows Explorer either through the network or logged on locally to W2K server, the file shows as
"Size: 567 bytes (567 bytes)
Size on disk: 4.00 KB (4,096 bytes)"
Any idea if there is something that can be configured the Mac clients so that they view the actual size (the number in brackets) of the file by default instead of the "Size on disk"? Or is there something on the W2K servers that can be configured so that the Macs see the correct file sizes?
Thanks,
DS
