MAD Monitoring Thread!!!! Help!!!!!!

By ccthompson ·
I get this error in the event viewer of my exchange server every 5 mins!!!! I have read the article on Microsoft KB, and it seems straight-forward. No Problem, until you get to the end, where it says to re-run the Exchange 2000 Setup, the reapply the Service Packs.

Everything is working fine, so I guess I wanted to ask, if anyone else has delt with this, and if so, did you re-run setup and the service packs. It just seems to me, that it is alot of work(that could cause overwrite problems) that may not be necessary, because everything works fine.

Please Help! Thanks!

You're going to have to post the exact error message, both the Event ID and source and the text of the message, for anyone to be able to help you.

Well, not knowing what article you have read...I found several different articles referring to different causes, none of which recommended completely reinstalling Exchange. One article I saw did refer to the fact that this error could be caused by the COM+ components to Exchange not being properly installed or registered. If this was part of the cause then I would said you would want to go ahead and reinstall at least those components. OTOH, if you do everything up to that point and the error messages stop, then you probably don't need to do the reinstall. This type of error is usually caused by permissions/access issues, AFAIK.

Hope this helps!
