Mail address ??

We are hoping to have an Exchange Server, (as a mailbox). My question is: do we have to have another separate entity to provide us with mailing addresses. Say, company name is handout, so if I call (at installation) something handout, and so on, won’t it serve as a mailserver ? Do I have to get somebody else to provide one although we are hosting the mailbox?
