Mail delivery errors

By earlkaplan ·
I am getting mail delivery errors from sources to whom I have NEVER sent an e-mail. Could someone be using my machine to send e-mails? Would I not be able to see these as sent mail? I have included the details.txt attachment and the e-mail for a sampling of the messages.

There are a few possibilities.

1) Someone is spoofing your email address.
2) Spyware.
3) Virus.

Spyware is the most probable. I reccomend XOftspy to clean your workstation. You have to buy it, but it is worth it. If you want to go free, try Microsoft ANtispayware, Ad-aware, and Spybot Search and Destroy.

I am having the same problem. I wondering if it has anything to do with the attack on "Blue Frog" which I was trying. I'm getting 20 to 30 returns a day to address I am not sending to. Have tried AVG Pro, Counter Spy and Ad_aware. No luck in stopping it or finding a Virus or Spyware.

Will try Microsoft Anti Spyware and see what it finds if anything.

If you slove problem will you email nd I'll do the same for you.

ollywho@myway.com.

Interesting Note. My Yahoo adress is also affected but not my myway.com.

Just make sure to run the scans in Safe Mode so there is as little as possible running. That way it will be easier top remove any infected items.

It could also be a discussion group that you are subscribed to that are generating these false returns, I've seen a few come through from the Windows Users Group and from the Debian Discussion group as well.

Mostly the ones that I've see look like a fishing expidation to get you to reply so that they have a valid E-Mail address to sell on to the spammers.
