I have a user that can’t get an email from one particular client. We could send emails to this client but he can’t reply or send new email to us. The error this client is getting is “The user(s) account is temporarily over the storage quota” we haveno limitations of the mailboxes and we can received and send email to everyone else, any ideas? Thanks!

have they tried sending you a small message. The message they are sending you probably has an attachment that is bigger that the allowed size of your mailbox from your ISP.

Thanks, we did tried a simple test without attachments, we also had the client sent a test message to different users in our domain and sometimes the client will get a similar error message or no error messages at all!

try pasting the exact email error message when you reject this message with codes and all. change servernames and IP address to protect yourself.

What email system (server) are you using?
What email system (server) is the client using?
Which server is generating the error message?

It is concievable that it is the clients account that is over the storage quota. Without seeing the actual message (as alluded to in Answer 2), it is hard to determine what is going on here.

How many people are involved here?

Your user cannot receive or send to another client?

The client is getting the error message when sending to your user?

Because your systems have no quotas, I would suspect that the client computer (the second user — no your user) is not really connected to his mail server for whatever reason.

It does not sound like this is “your” problem.

the client (which are 2 users as their email is being hosted by someone else) and our exchange, no one can’t get email from this client.

My users could send emails to the client.

I think the problem has been hit on the head by a previous responder. If you are using Exchange 2000 for instance, there is a default limit for the mailboxes even if you don’t specify limits. Have the user delete or move a few emails off the server and then re-try to send a small email as a test.

Running under the assumptions that 1)This user is receiving emails from other folks and 2)Even when the client doesn’t get an error sending to folks in your domain, the emails don’t get through, has anyone looked at the filters? It’s possible that the bounce-back message text is in error and the rejection is caused by something else.

The problem was the the client and us were using the same ISPs for webmail and supposedly we had the same dns, thank you for your suggestions.
