MCSE in Canada

By santaell ·
Hi,
I am planning to move to Canada, to be more specific to Vancouver, B.C.
Can anyone tell what are the chances for a MCSE with less than a year experience, salary, etc.
Thank you very much.

Check with job sites that have job listing for the area you are moving,Iam not familiar with Canadian pay,and considering that you may be going in to an area that has a demand for this field your probability of finding employment will be increased, and you may be in position to set your on salary requirements.Good Luck

Speaking as a Canadian working in Buffalo, expect to be overworked and underpaid. The Canadian IT market for entry-level positions is pretty much saturated. Mind you, Vancouver is an IT hot spot. You can realistically expect to be starting out ona helpdesk for around $30-35K.

I'm sorry but I have to agree with my fellow canuck...Underpaid, Under apprecaited and overworked. After 5 yrs hands on experience with NT, Exchange, IIS, Web Architecture(which up here can be translated into "built my own website at Geocities) Graphic Design I managed to get myself a spot on the helpdesk of one of our 5 majour banks. Well it's 2yrs later and I'm still on the helpdesk, making roughly 36 000 annually the last time I had a raise was over a year ago. I would say check out some of the local Employment sites, Monster.ca, Dice.com, workopolis.com(it's a good one) try to get a foot in the door before putting a foot inside this taxation **** hole ....sorry to be so blunt....Kepp Pluggin' away .... :-)

It was a little strange to watch US recruiters climb all over each other to get me on board when I couldn't get a second interview in Canada. It's mind boggling now to watch Canadian recruiters climb all over themselves now that I'm working in the States. It's like crossing the border somehow validated my experience and credentials.

In general, people in the profession are more respected, paid better and treated better in
the US than in Canada. This is especially true for support of any kind (network, DBA, system
administration, etc). A friend of mine who works in tech support for an American university
considered moving to Toronto where most of his friends live. However, the job offers
paid less than half what he was making in the US.

Since he had 10 years of industry experience, I'm afraid your experience level won't help
alleviate the discrepancy.
