I have a user who has a Handspring Visor running Palm OS 3.x. Their memos have disappeared on the handheld, but everything else (addresses, datebook) remain intact. Unfortunately when they sync with palm desktop, it erased the memos there as well. I thought it was odd that just the memos vanished and not any of the other data. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, do you know what caused it and did you find a solution?

it now also appears some (but not all) dates in datebook are missing. What i need to determine is if it is a problem with desktop/hotsync issue or with the handheld itself
I would check first that the conduits and their settings have not been corrupted or altered.
Next I would suspect the handheld itself, especially the assembly that connects with the sync cradle. Try to sync via IrDA, if possible, to isolate this.
My experience has been that the cradles themselves are reasonably robust. I've had a few incidents involving extreme humidity--no, I didn't drop it in water :) --where flaws in the soldering were, shall we say, exposed
On one Visor I did manage to resolder the connector assembly back onto the MOBO well enough to keep the battery charged, but could only reliably sync via IrDA.
It might be time to make room for a Tungsten in the budget...
