    Hi,

I have xfinity as my internet provider and I want to use my own router. However, the router I want does not have a coaxial input on the back, it only has Ethernet ports. How can I hook this up? Additionally, the mesh system has two more routers that will be in rooms with coaxial outlets.

    Any assistance is appreciated.

You need a modem that’s approved by xfinity. You can connect any router to it to serve your home.

If you are looking to increase your WiFi speeds overall, a mesh system, or WiFi booster like a range extender, will not improve your Internet speed. They increase coverage.

If your router does not have a coaxial input, you can still use it with Xfinity by following these steps:

Connect your Xfinity modem to the coaxial outlet using the coaxial cable provided by Xfinity.

Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports on the Xfinity modem to the WAN port on your new router.

Power on your new router and configure it according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

If you have additional routers in rooms with coaxial outlets, you can connect them to the Xfinity modem using additional Ethernet cables.

Configure the additional routers to function as access points, extending the Wi-Fi coverage of your network.

To set up the additional routers as access points, you will need to connect them to the Xfinity modem via Ethernet cables and disable their DHCP server. This will ensure that all devices on your network receive their IP address from the Xfinity modem, allowing them to communicate with each other and access the internet. You can find detailed instructions on how to set up your router as an access point in the manufacturer’s documentation.

You will need to purchase a modem that has an Ethernet output to connect to your new router. The other routers in rooms with coaxial outlets can still be used with your new setup by connecting them to the modem via Ethernet cables.
