Messaging from Word doc. 'send to' defau

By bbuser ·
How can I reset the MS Word messaging default setting away from Outlook Express and into Lotus Notes to automatically forward a Word document as an attachment within an e-mail message? Presently, if I go to file in Word, then "Send To", the default e-mail is Outlook. I need to route this through Lotus NOtes. What to Do?
Thank you in advance.
Dr. Bob

You can't unless Notes can act as a MAPI application. Even then I believe your out of luck. As a shot in the dark, you may try uninstalling Outlook. Good Luck

SYMPTOMS
When you click Send To on the File menu in any of the Microsoft Office 97 programs, you may receive the following error message:

Mail is not installed on this system.

CAUSE
This problem occurs if Lotus Notes 4.5 is not configured correctly on the computer. For Lotus Notes 4.5 to be properly configured during installation, the Microsoft Windows messaging components must already be installed on the computer when you install Lotus Notes.

Note that Lotus Notes 4.5 installs additional dynamic-link library (DLL) files when it detects the Windows messaging components. Lotus Notes 4.5 must be able to find these DLLs to connect to the Windows messaging system.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install the Windows messaging components and reinstall Lotus Notes 4.5.

To resolve this problem, use the following steps:

On the Start menu, point to Settings and click Control Panel.

In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs.

In the Add/Remove Pro

Dr.Bob;Here are three Microsoft KB articles that may help you. http://search.support.microsoft.com/kb.

Q109833 "how to switch from MAPI to VIM electronic mail support" may help the most, it has directons how to switch from one mail system to the other. Q167314 and Q119785 may help also. They are too long for this. I use both Exchange and Notes 4.1 with Word97. I will try figure this out. Dan

In the Notes client, select the "location" document you want to use and exit Notes.
In Control Panel show properites of the Mail and Fax icon and "Show Profiles."
Select "Add" and select "Notes Mail" from the list. "Next" Enter a name for the profile. Enter the password for your NOtes ID. "Next" and enter the path of your Microsoft Exchange Personal Address Book and click Next or leave it blank and click Next to have Notes create one for you. "Finish"
Now select the profile you choose "Properties" On the Addressing tab view the Address books for the profile. If you want to add an Address book so you can access it in Microsoft Exchange, click Add.

Select an Address Book from the "Show this address list first" list. (Remember you can add Domino directories as well)

In fact you must select at least one Domino directory in the Addressing To do this choose Tools - Options - Addressing to select a Domino directory

If you're using only Lotus Notes, and you have Internet Explorer installed, go the the control panel and go into your Internet options. Under Programs, click the drop-down button and select Lotus Notes as your default e-mail program. Your MS Office applications will then automatically use Notes when you use the send mail functions.
