MFC Runtime Module

By Red Dragoon ·
My customer is running Windows 98. It just started to happen that when she logs on to the network, she receives the following error message.

MFC Runtime Module

This application or DLL can not be loaded on Windows 95 or on Windows 3.1. It takesadvantage of Unicode features only available on Windows NT.

Does anyone know what this means or how to fix it?

MFC is Microsoft Foundation Class. You need to search your computer for MFC*.* files and make sure that the proper version is being used. There are probably duplicates of these files in your application directories as well as c:\windows\system etc.

You should be able to extract the specific file from your Win98 cd. Sounds like a recently installed program rewrote the NT version of this file and that you need to extract the proper version.

Well, I wasn't able to extract that .dll. I just removed the programs from the Startup menu, and the user hasn't reported the error message again, so I'll give you the points. Thanks for the response!
