Microsoft Exchange Server is down.

By IS Admin ·
I receive the following error when trying to use OWA " The Microsft Exchange Server is down or the HTTP Service has been disabled by an administrator. Please try your request again later."
Please let me know if anybody has encountered this problem before.

Yes, are you stopping exchange for any back up programs or batch files?

Need more info!! Did it ever work? One possibility that comes immediately to mind if it never worked is that there is a proxy server or firewall between the Exchange server and wherever you are when you try to run OWA that is blocking incoming HTTPrequests. If this is the case, you need to open TCP/IP port 80 on the proxy or firewall. Hope this helps!

Exchange is currently running. I recently moved OWA from an Exchange server to a Web server.

I am currently running OWA with no problems, however, like you had, I have both the IIS and exchange server on the same computer. From what I understand, if you decide to seperate them, you have to make a change in the exchange admin. I am not sure where it is, but I know it is there. Good luck. I know that you do not have a problem other than that you seperated them and have to tell them they are seperate.

OK - it sounds like what you have done is move OWA outside the firewall, while Exchange is still inside. Look at the following TechNet article and see if it solves your problem: Q259240. If you don't have TechNet, you can go to www. microsoft.com/technet and look up the article number there. Hope this helps!
