The simple solution is to NOT use word as your editor. I had similar problems when I tried to use a similar set up. I haven't had any problems since I dumped that option

Did you backup and restore the default MS Word template (normal.dot) during your rebuild of the operating system? If so rename normal.dot to normal.old and then start up MS Word. Word will recreate the normal.dot file from scratch. If there is corruption in normal.dot this will get rid of it. Of course it will also get rid of your autotext, autocorrect and macros as well.

If this does not resolve your problem then you can restore the renamed normal.dot.

Since you have rebuilt your computer this next option is unlikely but worth a shot. Rename email.dot in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\1033 (for office 2000.) Then start Outlook and start a new message.

These are the only two suggestions I have.

Did you restore your user profile from the operating system? What version of Office Outlook are you using?
