Microsoft Updates related query..

By abhinav2104 ·
Q1)
If i were to uninstall my Microsoft Office 2007(using add and remove)on Vista SP1, would i still get updates for it, because theoretically, registry entries would still be there?

Q2)
Do updates for drivers of the computer also come through microsoft updates or do they get updated on their own?

Thanks in advance

NO

Generally speaking No you do not get Driver Updates from the Windows Update Servers. While some companies pay M$ to include their Driver Updates through the Windows Update Servers most do not.

Also if you are just relying on the Auto Update Services from M$ you do not get Driver Updates, you need to log onto the M$ Update Servers and do a Custom Search for Updates the Auto Search doesn't pickup most of the updates except for Windows & some Office Updates.

This is in refernece to your reply to Q1). Is this beacuse microsoft update servers can no longer detect MS Office 2007 on my system. How exactly is it determined? Is it that my system tells microsoft that these ms softwares are loaded on this system and they need to be updated or ms servers run some kind of a check to see which all ms products are installed...thnx

But it is Office itself which is what calls Home to Mommy for the Updates.

When Office is removed it can no longer go looking for any updates as it's just not there.
