Migrating from mdaemon To exchange

By jgray ·

I'm looking for some advice, Currently I'm running mdaemon with imap for mail this does not work very well user's mail runs very slowly and they get kicked out of mail sporadically. I have tested the network and everything is fine there i'm running a win 2000 AD domain with 50 users.

I have decided that the best possible solution is to migrate to an exchange server the hardware is fine as im running an HP ML350 with 2gb of ram.

Has anyone done anything like this before, if so your advice would be greatly appreciated.

In your case Exchange 2003 Standard would be fine (or Exchange 2003 Enterprise if you need more advanced features eg Clustering, Frontend/Backend setup).

I think the biggest problem is importing mail for each user into Exchange. What client software are you using?

i'm in the middle of migrating from communigate to exchange 2003, all my email clients use outlook 2000, outlook 98 or outlook 2003, so i just export the PST files, install outlook 2003 (if they are on an older version)
setup the exchange and import the PST into the exhcange mailbox.

i'm running win 2003 AD and i have 200 users, i'm going through 1 at a time exporting and importing the mailboxes so its taking a bit of time, we decided to go w/ exchang eenterprise because the size of all the mailboxes together amount to more than 16 GB and that's the limit for exchange 2003 Standard.

Some more information please.

I will be migrating from MDaemon to Exchange Server 2003.
We have about 50 users so going one by one as stated previously will be time consuming.
I also want to ask how will it be possible to synchronise all the date on the MDaemon Server with the New Exchange Server 2003.
Are there any links or guides to do this ?
