Mini DV JVC GR DV5 IEEE 1394 port

Hi, I have Mini DV JVC GR DV5, a little camcorder.
DV5 has IEEE 1394 port, my VAIO too, but never I can?t to connected them.
Samebody now where can be the problem?
I don?t kwon if I need special software, I don?t found nothing .
