Mis-aligned graphics in IE

By jomard ·
The webpage contain images inside tables. When using IE, if the Text Size setting (View>Text Size) is greater than Smaller, an image drops down. It gets worse as the Text Setting goes larger. This doesn't happen in NN6. The width and the height of each image are specified, as well as the cells of the table that contain them. Also, the style of the entire body of the homepage is specified with a small-sized font but still the font size is changed whenever the Text Size setting is changed. Pleasehelp.

Mis-aligned graphics in IE

by Jay Eckles In reply to Mis-aligned graphics in I ...

First thing I would look for is if you have a space or other character between your cell tags and your image tag...i.e.
<td> <img.../td> <--note the space after <td>

Another thing you might do is specify the font size in the CSS in px units; CSS purists would (rightly) go nuts over such a suggestion, but if there's no text on the page, only images, it won't matter.

The proper solution would probably be to abandon tables altogether and align the images using CSS2. Of course that results in older browser support problems, which is why I still use tables myself.

If that doesn't work, why don't you post a URL or some sample code for us to look at.

You're correct. Our tables were written this way:
<td>
<img ...>
</td>
When written in one line <td><img.../td>, it worked fine. Thank you, thank you, thank you. :)

What version of IE are using?
What doctype are you using?

Is there a page we can look at?

The previous answer has helped with the situation, thanks. But we're still encountering some more bugs, which I hope you'd be interested to take a look at.
