I wanted to comment on the statements made by Steve Duplessie regarding snapshots in the article “IBM unveils software for real-time data backup”. His statements are probably correct for some implementations of snapshot technology, like Microsoft’s, but it does not apply to all. So it is misleading. There are some snapshot technology, like Network Appliance’s, that this description does not apply, and it uses the same space, if not less, than IBM’s CDP product.
