Missing Exchange Email

By salaik ·
Over the holiday (last Friday to be exact), the SMTP service stopped working on our Exchange 2000 server. I'm working to get to the bottom of that issue.. But my question at hand, is there a way to recover the mail that should have been received over the weekend or is it gone for good?? There is nothing in the queue folder in the exchsrvr folder...

Thanks in advance..

Non-Delivered Mail

You could ask all the users that got a NDR to resend the mail. Since the mail was never in your system, there is no way to recover it other than having the users resend it.

Thanks, that is what I wanted to confirm.. So if I find that the SMTP service has stopped, and we haven't gotten mail for a period of time, its safe to assume that nothing has gotten through to our server?
