Modify adapter / USB stick for “hidden” connection

    by Oblivion99 ·

    Dear all

When using a BLUETOOTH or CELLULAR or WIFI adapter / USB stick.

Is it then possible to modify the adapter / USB stick so that:

    1.
The adapter / USB stick is hidden from Windows?
The adapter / USB stick doesn’t appear in Device Manager in Windows?

    2.
The adapter / USB stick gives the computer “hidden” internet connection – while also there is no internet in Windows / in Windows the computer is offline?

    3.
The adapter / USB stick gives the computer “hidden” Bluetooth connection – while also there is no Bluetooth connection in Windows?

    4.
What level of skill is required?
    Only the manufacturer?
    NSA?
    Someone trained / skilled?

    5.
    What would it require?
Some kind of malware on the USB stick?
    Change the firmware?
Change the whole USB stick, circuit board etc.?

    Thank you

    Best regards

I think you would have to change Windows to reach your purpose. Well, go ahead.

If you’re afraid one of your sticks is treated this way, switch to using Linux or Apple.

      So much to cover here.

But frankly such a device isn’t going to be very useful to the normal PC user.

Maybe you are thinking about the O.MG cables you can get today? I will not write about hacking tools here so you must do your own research.

Are O.MG cables short for Oh My God ?

It’s also the name of an actual cable.

I am not seeking hacker advice. Just wether or not, it is possible. And answers to my above questions.

The answer to almost all “is it possible” questions is YES.

Sometimes folk ask but are not interested in discussion of the likelihood so for now, for you the answer is a simple YES.

You would need the (hardware) expertise to build such a cable or adapter.

And, of course, you a means to get the user you want to hack to use it. Selling it for a few dollars on amazon.com is not a good way to get it to your target. Suppose you want to spy on Donald Trump. How do you manage to get him to use your cable?

          For questions 4 and 5.

Go find the O.MG cable and the web site it is sold at. Now go watch their YouTubes and you will see the skill levels on display.

You are seeing the one in a million person that can create such things.

But for me I don’t need to create such a thing, just understand how to search and find such things. My background includes Embedded electronics, coding and more so while I could create such a thing from the ground up, the question for me becomes “Why should I reinvent the Wheel?”

There’s no need so I would buy such a thing.

Would you say, that the same level of skll is required to modify a USB stick in my initial 1 2 and 3 questions?

          Thank you

The O.MG cable/device was created from scratch. To modify some USB stick would be truly GOD LEVEL!
