More Bootable Backup in XP

by des421 . Updated 23 years, 4 months ago

I have my new machine up and configured on XP Pro. 2 drives of 6 partitions each, with Drive 1 (I: thru N:) being an image of Drive 0 (C: thru H:). OK… I can copy C: to I:, change the label back to System2 to prevent confusing XP (all from DOS), disconnect Drive 0, connect 1 in it’s place (just to keep from maybe changing the BIOS). And then… the image won’t boot! She stops on the Welcome screen and plays dumb? I have it on some authority that it Must be boot all by it’s self the first timeto prevent “a tight linking with the primary OS”. What’s going on here? This technique works perfectly in Win98, where I keep a bootable backup on line at all times. Anybody… Help!
