Mothers Day, How will you spend it?

By jdclyde ·
Remember people, Mom is the reason you are here right now.

How will you say thanks to that special person?
A card from Hallmark?
A phone call from where ever you are?

I have a card and a 9 am Tee time. Will be taking Mom out for 18 to start the day off right. (with cart of course) Going to have pick up a single rose too (can't carry a dozen around on the golf course!).

My boys will be with their female perental unit, and I have already taken them out to get her a card that they will give her first thing in the morning.

What will you be doing?

Before I set off for work, I will prepare a special breakfast for her, then present her with a dozen of roses and a card.

Dozen roses and Brunch

by TomSal In reply to Mothers Day, How will you ...

I have to say I get down on myself a lot... but one area of life I struck it "rich" was with my parents, I really couldn't ask for better parents (and my siblings are pretty cool too).

I bought a dozen pink roses for my mom and two of my brothers, my dad and myself are taking her out to brunch on Sunday.

I forgot PINK!

by jdclyde In reply to Dozen roses and Brunch

I am just so used to red roses I forgot all about pink for the day!

Is there an actual guide on what colors are for what?

Red/pink/yellow? What is for what?

I do know that...

by jkaras In reply to I forgot PINK!

yellow is for friendship, so I wouldnt get her that color unless its her favorite. As for the others I dont know. I used to give a dozen roses to women with one white rose. The card would read that red roses are dime a dozen and the white is like her unique and stands out from the rest. A bit corny mind you but gets the point across.

well I have found

corny = romantic to many people.

Anything to show you put SOME thought into it more than just stopping into the florists on the way home from work and grabbing the obvious choice helps.

Can you believe on Valentines day I got in trouble because I had to wait for that day to give her a dozen roses instead of just doing it for the sake of doing it? About a month before she told me she was moving out. And to think the money I could have saved if she would have told me before Christmas!

Roses - Pink, white, or red?

by jdclyde In reply to I forgot PINK!

Does ANYONE know what is proper here?

A combination of colors (colours) or is there a correct color (colour) to use for each occasion?

I just know 3 out of the basic 4 colors

by TomSal In reply to Roses - Pink, white, or r ...

This information comes from either women telling me throughout my life, reading it somewhere or just hearing about...

Yellow is for friendship

Red is for passion/love - hence why its so common

Pink I was told means sincerity/respect, etc. - hence its association for mother's day

The one I'm not sure about is White though...

I only know one thing about White -- its my girl friend's favorite, so that's why I give her white roses.

The colors are just guides though -- obviously if you know the woman you have in mind likes a particular color a lot, just "break the rules" and give her that color.

Directory of Flower Meanings

At least for the Victorians, white roses symbolized: purity; secrecy; silence; forever. It's a pretty complex flower.

Here are the meanings of many common flowers:

No problem! Glad to be of assistance.

As I am a "cat mom," I'll take the good wishes, and thanks. :)

Have a good one.
