Mount St. Helens just blew its top

By gralfus ·
I can see the plume outside the window. I'm about 42 miles from it it Vancouver, WA. It is a small steam burst with some ash, but tiny compared to the one years ago.

I remember the first

we were sittig in th backyard in Vancouver CANADA and ash was falling in the yard. I wonder if it was checked at the border for dual purpose goods?

When I was in Oregon a few weeks later, there was a whole bunch of the little lava rocks in the river, little porous rocks that almost floated on the suface. Very cool! Ufortunately not so neat for the residents that were effected by it.

But the ash was flying all the way up to Vancouver, BC! That's quite a boom at quite a height!

Was watching on thar TV a few ago. Looked great. I just wish the talking heads would shut up for one min, take down the scrolling banner, lower the "Mount St. Helens just exploded" in 20pt and the clock so I could see!
