MS Access Application – MultiUsers

I have split an Access DB into Front/Backend. Front is .mde and Back is .mdb
Backend resides on NT Server with Linked Tables in Frontends on 5 Workstations. First User gets access to Backend tables in 5 seconds, other users vary from 25 to 60 seconds. Any suggestions for increased speed?
