MS Access Database Printing Issue

By jgreer ·
We have a database that insists on printing to a specific printer even though this printer is not even in the user?s list of available printers. Is there a way that a printer could have been attached to the database, where changing the user?s printer default has no effect?

Go to 'file' then 'page setup'. Under the 'page' tab, click on 'use specific printer', then click on the 'printer' button and select the printer you want Access to use.
Hope this helps!

It?s like if the user doesn?t reinforce to the database that it should print to the user?s default printer, then it will automatically print to the CAD Room printer ? even if that user doesn?t even have the CAD Room printer installed.

Does this database have VB Code modules? If so, the program could be directing to a specific printer. I would check to see if any code modules exist and search code for any printer commands.

Within the report in rpt view, look for the page setup menu button. In this form you will see the button for "printer". Select this button and then look for the button "network". This is where you can hard-code the printer of your choice for that particular report. By selecting the default printer you set the report to what ever the default the machine the report is run from.
