MS Exchange POP3 Connector Problem

I am running Small Business Server 2000 with 30 users. Exchange 2000 uses the POP3 connector to retrieve mail from a shared POP account hosted by our ISP. Every so often, the POP 3 process “crashes”. Sometimes the process restarts automatically.Occasionally I must reboot the server. The major problem is that when the POP 3 process crashes, messages from the shared account do not reach their intended destination. Is there a way to recover these emails? I cannot seem to find a log file that indicates what is happening.
