My MIS department has installed MS Office 2000 on over 75 PCs & laptops with no problems, except for two desktops that after loading MS Office from the network using a “transforms” setup, the following problem happens. All applications work properly, except when you try to start Outlook 2000 (which we are migrating to from cc:Mail)it attempts to start the Windows Installer and I receive the above titled error message.
I have unloaded the program, reinstalled, and get the same thing. I also have reinstalled the Windows Installer, loaded directly from a new CD and manually customized the settings, still no luck. Also, have totally uninstalled all Virus Protection software on the pc. This still did not resolve the issue. Have printedout numerous Knowledge Base articles from Microsoft – and am not any further.
If anyone has encountered this problem and was able to rectify it – all help would be greatly appreciated. As stated above – all applications function except for Outlook – which finishes installing itself when you first start it. This is the program I need the most.
