MS Offline Files function in Netware?

By thoen ·
I have been asked by a small company to migrate their Netware 5.x network to Win2000. They will be purchasing new hardware at the same time.

The reason for doing so, as it has been explained to me, is that almost all of the employees travel and use laptops. They want a mechanism for automating the backup of data on the laptops to their network server (they only have one). The have seen MS's Offline Files in operation and believe it to be a good solution.

I don't disagree. However, I think it would be foolish to move from Novell to MS if that is the only reason.

Offline files does not seem to work with a Netware server.

Does anyone know of a similar function/application, that is free, or extremely inexpensive, that works with Netware?

It would make a lot of sense for me to recommend a different solution than migration. Of course, I may be losing a client.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ifolder from novell works like offline files but does the transfer over the internet. Only draw back is having the file server on a public address. You can buy IFolder to install on your 5.x server or I believe it comes with netware 6.
