MS Outlook Crashes

By nicolaspt ·
I had this error message and issue after uninstalling "hotbar".
In Outlook 2000, cannot open, reply, fwd etc any message. Outlook 2000 opens ok, but when I try to open the message or any other action gets error that "OUTLOOK.exe Has Generated Errors and Will Be Closed by Windows." Outlook closes. Have tried everything in the Microsoft Knowledge base to include new profile, pst, disabling addin's, un-installing & reinstalling MS Outlook. No effect.
Also when navigating the Tools >> Options >>> Mail Format got the same error message.
Can somebody help me...Thanks...

After uninstalling hotbar... did you run ad-aware and remove the remanents of hotbar?

Ad-Aware 6.0 has just been released and is available at :

http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/

Download it, install it and run it.

As many peoplecan report, hotbar tends to re-appear after it has been uninstalled. This happens because certain portions of the resistry are not cleared by a simple uninstall.

The process that works is:
Download and install Ad-aware.
Uninstall hotbar.
Run Ad-Aware amd remove everything it finds.
reboot.
then test.

If Outlook still fails to run, I recommend that you uninstall the whole office suite, run ad-aware again, reboot, and re-install Office again.

If you are running WinXP or Win2000 as the OS there, then you can also try booting into Recovery Console and running chkdsk /r from the dos prompt and see if that helps.
