How much space is on the email server? It could be running low causing this problem.

What also could be causing this is that the backup of mail is not complete from the night before. This could be much slower due to bloated sizes of mailboxes. If it's an option, try to have your users clean out their deleted items and also you may want to enforce archiving.

Do your users use OST's? Check the size and see if they are above the max size--not sure what that is off-hand, you will have to check that on the MS site.

Many times this message results from the client PC not being able to provide a timely connection to the Exchange server, which leads to name resolution problems. You can tweak your DNS and WINS servers, but the Q&amp (quick&dirty) solution is to create a "hosts" or an "lmhosts" file on the client PC, to speed up the name resolution of the Exchange server to its IP address. This also speeds up name resolution of the Exchange server, when your users use RAS or VPN.
Hope this helps.
