MS Security Patch MS03-015 problems

By cleolain ·
I updated my IE as the article indicated it was a critical update and should be installed. BIG MISTAKE. Some important web-based utilities stopped working. Fortunately the update was easy to un-install (it was listed in Add/Remove programs, 813489) but if that ability was not there it would have been an ugly mess. It is difficult to predict the impact some of these patches have on already existing web-based applications.

Software technology has improved and there is no more the need to feel that software technology is unreliable.

You must track all software on a given system. We do know by now that application code depends on the OS which includes the patches).
It might be a fix, but the core code remains. Its code containers are modified so all applications can be impacted.

So always retain a full software listing with dettails of your system.

The full bulletin for the patch does list files and services that are disabled by applying the patch.

My XP Pro system has had no problems from installing the patch.

Another thought, is did you get the correct version of the patch?
