MS Word 2000 Freezes and locks up

have a question for you and maybe you might know an answer to it? I have a client who had his MS Word 2000 SP1 freeze and now every time he starts work it locks the whole computer on him! The only way I can use work is with winword /a. This stops all macros, add ins, global templates from being loaded? I have re-installed Word and even tried reloading it in a new directory location and still it locks the computer. Do you have any idea why it might be doing this or have you ever run into anything similar to this? Usually just reinstalling MS Word fixes the problem!

I don’t know if this has anything to do with word or not, but I am getting the following error at startup: Inquiry caused invalid page fault in module INQUIRE.EXE at 018:00402ce.
