MS-Word 2003 w/SP-1 Slow entry of data

I have a 30 page document with a table of 7 columns and approximately 90 rows. There is formatting in the cells with numbering and bullets.
Frequently when entering data into the variosu parts of the table word does not keep up with the speed of the typing and this causes frequent erros as I expect something to take place, a delete maybe?, and it doesn’t happen right away. I then try it again but now word catches up with the entry.
Very frustrating.
I must have sometnig set on but I don’t know what.
