    MS Word invisible page break

I’m working in a MS Word document which contains an outline. Word has made an “invisible” page break (or section break). I’ve done a find-and-replace, and it doesn’t find a page or section break. Yet it leaves all but 1 inch of the page blank. How to get rid of the blank space?

      The break precedes the outline.

Use the Show Hide nutton it should show you any invisable braks or carigge returns. The show/hide button looks like a backwards P.

I’m very familiar with the show/hide feature, but all it shows is a normal paragraph return, not a section break or page break.

Aha! I’ve discovered my own answer. It’s a paragraph formatting command. Here’s the help text:

Set a pagination option. The following pagination options (Keep lines together, Keep with next, or Page break before) control where automatic page breaks occur.

To remove the pagination formats from text, select the paragraph following the unwanted page break, click Paragraph on the Format menu, and then click the Line and Page Breaks tab. If necessary, clear the Keep lines together, Keep with next, and Page break before check boxes.

Okay, one more comment. This “automatic page break” is something that Word did on its own. The “keep with next” in paragraph formatting for the outline was added without my ever going to that menu. It’s on the paragraph-formatting dialog, under the “line and page breaks” tab.
