MS Word XP – New Doc Button

I installed Microsoft Office XP. It has been working fine until now. I have been typing in Word but when I press for a new document, one of my previous files keeps coming up. I close it and press for a blank document and the file comes back. I fileit and it still comes back, the same document. Any ideas how to keep this from happening? I installed my disc to repair and that didn’t work. Then I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and that didn’t work. Can someone help me?
