Can anyone please help?
I have a Win XP SP2 installation where MSCONFIG won’t launch. Selecting it in Start, Run and trying to run simply produces a couple of seconds of disc activity light and nothing else. It used to run on this machine, then it stopped starting. Of course it is not used often so pinning down what changes to the machine (new applications, updated apps etc.) happened between attempts is next to impossible.
I have been unable to spot anything relating to it in the Registry that is different to the Registry of a machine where MSConfig.exe does run.
I have tried extracting and copying in a new version of the file (same version number etc) all to no avail. It is not a mission critical problem but an extreme annoyance that I would like to be able to solve.
