MSEdge repositioning of favorites+smaller line spacing

    Locked

    by bluenite1 ·

Does anyone know how to change the position of the favorites bar from the right side to the left side please? If it’s even possible? I was used to it from FFox, now I’m trying this browser.
One more thing was clever with FF and that was changing the line spacing of these items, for compactness. I think it’s a waste of space.
    Thanks for the advice
    Peter

While you can’t move the Favorites Bar itself in Edge, you can hide it completely or show it only on new tabs. To hide it, right-click on the empty space in the toolbar area and uncheck “Favorites bar.”

Microsoft Edge doesn’t currently allow you to move the Favorites bar to the left side of the window. However, you can hide it completely if you prefer not to use it. Here’s how:

      1. Open Microsoft Edge.
      2. Click the three dots (…) in the top right corner.
      3. Go to Settings.
      4. Click on Appearance.
      5. Under Customize toolbar, use the dropdown menu next to Show favorites bar and choose Never.
For line spacing, there isn’t a built-in option to adjust it directly. Here are a couple of workarounds:

Reduce font size: Go to Settings > Appearance and try a smaller font size under “Customize fonts”. This will decrease the space between lines in the entire browser, including the Favorites bar (if you choose not to hide it).
Zoom out: Use the zoom controls (Ctrl + -) to make everything on the page appear smaller, including the line spacing in the Favorites bar.

      Hello bluenite,

In Microsoft Edge, the favorites bar is typically located below the address bar, and there isn’t a built-in feature to move it to the left side of the screen as you might be used to from Firefox. However, you can manage your favorites by creating folders and organizing them in a way that suits your preferences.

As for reducing the line spacing of the items in the favorites bar for compactness, there isn’t an option in Microsoft Edge to adjust the spacing as you could in Firefox. The design is intended to be touch-friendly, which results in larger spacing. Some users have found that turning off “Touch Mode” in the settings can help make the favorites bar less spacious. Additionally, you can right-click on the favorites and select “Show icon only” to save space, or rename them to shorter names.

If these options don’t meet your needs, you might consider providing feedback to the Microsoft Edge team through the browser’s feedback feature (Alt+Shift+I) to request more customization options for the favorites bar.

      I hope this helps.
