A friend and I are trying to work with MSN Messenger 6. We are able to communicate through the chat window, and to send files back and forth. However, when we try Whiteboard, Audio, Remote Assistance, or Application Sharing, nothing works.
With Audio, we get connected, but cannot communicate. After a short time, the connection srops. I have a cable modem and a Linksys BEFW11S4 V.2 router. He has a DSL modem and the same router. We are both on Windows XP Home. My connection information tells me that I am not behind a firewall, and that I am not configured for NAT.
With the other features, such as Whiteboard, I receive a message that it is not supported on versions earlier than MSN Messenger Version 6. I’m not sure why that is happening, since both of us are at the latest version of MSN Messenger.
Is there any way to get around these problems, or should I just scrap MSN Messenger and move to a different messenger service?
