MSN without MSN Explorer

By metnever ·
I want to log on to the internet with out using MSN explorer. It would be a lot easier to just click on Internet Explorer and log on to a regular connection with my MSN ISP. I already tryed a custom connection with my MSN Explorer numbers, user name, and password. It dialed the number but didn't log in. Can anybody help?

You can download another browserf and set it as the default browser (netscape or lycos),then logon.
Once logged on,you can then use the browser

SOunds as if MSN Explorer is a redesigned browser that takes you directly to your account. After you are in, you should be able to use Internet Explorer normally............

Are they conflicting? What happens if you minimize IE and start IE? I don't think that they will want to suggest anything else -- (they will want you to use their account).

These three answers aren't what I'm talking about. MSN works for me, I can use Internet Explorer while MSN Explorer is logged in. Im using XP. I want to bypass MSN Explorer all together by going to Control Panel - Network and Internet Connections - Network Connections and click on Create a New connection. I want to use a regular basic connection instead of having the MSN window taking up space by copying the numbers and settings.

It's the same using AOL or any dial-up ISP. That's the way it is designed to work.

IE will work secondary or first... but you need to login.

Those login parameters are controlled by your account. MSN Explorer was "designed" to do it all.

MSN is your ISP; Call them.

They are the only ones who can help you ... although they will want you to continue to use their software (MSN Explorer).

All three of the above answers are correct.

Some ISP accounts (esp. AOL) require you to use their dial-up software. If not, you should be able to view the phone number your MSN dialer is using to connect. Check to be sure your login and password are correct in dial-up networking. It may bethat your account with MSN requires their dialer. You can call and ask about upgrading to another plan that will allow you to use your own. ( These usually come with POP client access for downloading email with Outlook Express or other, also.)
