Multi-server reads to same set of SAN disks

By rajeev.goel ·
Wanted to find out if it's possible to store a single copy of the same read-only content within an EMC SAN (DMX2000 and DMX3000) and allow multiple servers to read the content. I know this can be done with NAS but can it be done in a SAN? If so, what kind of configuration is required?

Interested in EMC and non-EMC perspectives.

Thanks.

Depends

What type of servers are going to be accessing the LUN's. Windows or *Nix. It is much easier with Unix or Linux because you can mount the file system read only. Basically you give access to all the servers to the required LUN's and tell the filesystems on the server to only use them read only. Windows your best bet is clustering to do this or seperate copies.
