multiple modem setup on NTWS4.0

By ragavansarma ·
I have been trying to configure four internal modems(same brand & 56K)on NT workstation4.0 with out success.
I receive lot of error logs in the event viewer. This requirement is to receive faxes from four seperate telephone lines.
(I AM NOT MAKING MULTILINK TO INCRASE THE BAND WIDTH).
I followed all recommended steps to configure, but only the first modem is getting installed successfully.

If anybody knows this ,kindly reply please.

you are going to run out of physical resources (com ports and IRQ's) trying to do this. One alternative is look into a Digi card for your modem needs. WWW.DIGI.COM

What you need is a multi-port serial card for the 4 modems. You can find a decent one here:

http://www.accessmicro.com/productinfo.php3?ProductId=A2296R08&Accessmicro_Session=91b7c9f4f1faf1d01ea32d19011ca23a

That will make your life MUCH easier.

You probably will be able to install 2 modems, 4 modems you'll need a digicard with 4 ports (+/- $1,000).

If the computer in question needs these four modems, please disable (in your computers BIOS) those internal devices (like comm-ports and LPT-ports) that you do not use. After this you can configure each modem with a separate IRQ and mem address. After this the installation should become a lot easier.

Good luck,

You are not going to have enough system resources to handle four modems. You can theoretically have comm1 through comm4 but you have to share irq's 3 & 4 with comm1/comm3 and comm2/comm4 respectively so you can't use all four modems all the time. If you have to use four modems you need to get a multible modem board like digicom.
