Mutiple Select

By djpinson ·
I have created a form in Access 2000. On it I have used the "Option Group" feature to create check boxes give a choice from 1 - 5.
(works fine)

However I need to apply the same principle to another group, but it has to be "Mutiple Select". I need to use the information in a report. When I use just the field the data will be stored in. I linked it to each individual check box(I used mutiple ck bx's), but when I select one they all are checked. "How can I have a multiple select group that's stored in one field? Is it even possible?

You should put the check boxes on the form itself or on top of a rectangle if you need to segregate it from the rest of the form.
Uning an Option Group limits you to one choice.
Hope this helps

In addition to violating first normal form, it is very poor practice to store multiple pieces of information in a single field. Create separate fields in the table to hold each discrete piece of information.

Your checkboxes are reacting in unison because they are all bound to the same recordsource field. To do what you want to do you would need to use unbound checkboxes (not in an option group) and manually concatenate the values in the BeforeUpdate event of the form. You also need code in the OnCurrent event of the form to parse the mushed field and assign the individual values to the unbound checkboxes.

Thanks,

I realized that it was my only option after experimenting with different ideas. The "BeforeUpdate" info was really helpful.
