My CD-ROM Opens on its own and stays open

By abysick666 ·
Every time i turn on my computer, the cd rom opens by itself and stays open. When i push it forward to go in, it does so but the it comes back out and stays out.

any ideas on how to fix this or at least at what the problem is?

It's time to replace it with a new one.

Well I can tell you what is happening here

Either something is sticking like the Front Open/Close switch or a Internal Sensor has failed and the draw needs to remain open because of what is going on inside the unit.

The fix is to replace the Drive with a New one and these days that will be a DVD Burner as CD Drives are no longer available nor are CD Burners or DVD Readers they have all been replaced by DVD Burners which sell Wholesale for about $35.00 AU.

At this price it's not economical to attempt a Repair and as you need to spend far longer to pull a Optical Drive apart than to replace it I have not meet anyone who will needlessly run up an exponent Labor Bill for a customer when they can guarantee a proper fix for far less money.
